With more than 50,000 serious readers per month (and each typically visits at least four pages of the site), more than any other site on Indian travel and culture, we get plenty of questions, including queries by journalists, travel writers and television network researchers. We're sometimes asked just who we are. The Magazine is authored by Indian journalists / lovers raised and educated in India. Yes this is a personal Site of a group of 6 indians and 2 americans. Most of the travel writers (for the other sections of the site) were raised outside India, in places like New York and London, they know what non-Indians are looking for in a site on India travel. This makes yourguidetoindia slightly more international than competing sites authored by "native" Indians, yet more current than Indian travel and cultural sites developed by people who don't actually live in India. We're not just about India, we're about Indians, too. They're what makes India (and yourguidetoindia) special. We began to develop yourguidetoindia.com early in 2005, when we realized that there wasn't a single web site that did justice to Indian destinations or Indian culture. We love India, and we felt that our favorite land deserved far better web treatment than she was receiving at the hands of tourism councils, politicians, amateur travel writers, travel agents and (well-paid) consultants, many of whom were based outside India. In publishing this site, our editors decried the tragic trend of Indian firms and public tourism bureau paying foreigners to do jobs that could (and should) be done by talented Indians. We never intended to make much profit beyond what was necessary to cover our costs. (Well, maybe just a little.) We're more than a destination guide. yourguidetoindia is the cyber-crossroads for those interested in all things Indian. That means arts, culture, fashion, cuisine and social issues. (We'll let our reader comments and reviews speak for themselves.)

Yourguidetoindia.com is not really our creation. Rather it is the result of the contributions from the 1000's of readers who, have unselfishly shared their thoughts and experiences with us.

To help offset the costs of this site, we allow selected advertisers to purchase banner space. We hope you will help support our site by visiting / linking to us regularly and giving us your valuable feedback, Without your feedback we will become just another destination guide.... give us your feedback India as a destination deserves better.
