Rathnagiri is a charming seaside town famous for Alfonso mangoes, coconuts, jackfruits and a long stretch of black sandy beach with a backdrop of a 15th century fort.

The Ratnadurg Fort
The fort was constructed between 1350 AD and 1500 AD. The Bhagwati Temple is situated inside the fort.
 
Palace of Theba
It is a very old palace. The King of Burma was detained here by the British Government. It is now converted into the Collector’s residence.
 
Tilak Memorial
This is the birth place of Sri Lokmanya Tilak which has been converted into a memorial maintained by the State Archaeological Department. Photographs of important incidents in the life of Lokmanya Tilak are preserved here. 
 
Mirya Bay
Also known as Bhagwati Port, this is a beautiful stretch of beach.

Pawas (25 Km)
Pawas is famous for the Ashram of Swami Swarupananda. The ashram has an ancient Shiva temple with its five tiered Deepmala and a Swayambhu Ganapati formed on the trunk of a tree. 
 
Jaigad (33 Km)
Jaigad creek is dotted with fishing villages and palm fringed beaches. It also has a tiny fort, part of which is now converted into a traveller’s bungalow. The ancient temple of 
 
Karateshwar
Karateshwar lies 1.5 Km from the fort. A Lighthouse here built in 1832 is open for visitors. Timings: 1600hrs to 1700 hrs daily except Sunday. 
 
Sangameshwar (74 Km)
Sangameshwar, the meeting of the rivers Alaknanda and Varuna, is a place of sanctity and of great antiquity. 
 
Chiplun (95 Km)
Situated in idyllic surroundings, ringed by the higher hills of the Western Ghats. There is the fort of Govalkot, on the top of which is a hotel run by the Taj Group of Hotels. Places of interest in Chiplun include, 
 
Parashuram Temple
A well known temple in the Ratnagiri area dedicated to Parashuram, is an ancient temple, however the images currently worshipped were installed in the 18th century.

Vashishti river (for boating and angling)
Located 10 km from the hotel, the Vashisti River Jetty offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy motorboat rides in the river - provided that the water level is high enough!
 
Koyna Dam (43 Km)
The Koyna dam and reservoir, located 45 km from the hotel is a sight to behold, and well worth the drive!
 
Marleshwar Shiva Temple (65 Km)
Marleshwar Often called the ‘Trimbakeshwar of the Konkan’, this temple is a said to be a ‘Svayambhu’ (self existent) shrine. The name ‘Marleshwar’ comes from the village of Maralgaon, where the temple is situated. 
 
Koynanagar (138 Km)
The site of a giant Hydro-Electric project, on the river Koyna, the gushing water of which has been harnessed for the generation of electricity. 

Guhagar (141 Km)
Guhagar lies 45 Km south of Chiplun (the nearest railhead). It is a small seaside town with long stretch of silver sand beach. Places around Guhagar are

Devgad (144 Km)
Devgad is famous for its temples, fort and a beach. Among the places of interest in Devgad include - Gajbadevi and Vimleshwar Shiva temples, Devgad Beach, Ruins of the Devgad Fort, Modern windmills. Devgad is also well known for the Alfonso mangoes. In the south, between Devgad and Kunkeshwar is the Tara Mumbri Beach. A large number of tourists visit this beach in the night to watch a rare phenomenon known as phosphorescence and to see porpoises playing in the sea.
 
Vijaydurg Fort (30 Km)
Once a naval base, Vijaydurg lies testimony to the Maratha’s martial supremacy during Shivaji’s reign. The temple of Rameshwar within the fort is yet another attraction. The nearest railhead for Devgad is Kankavli (46 Km). 

Kunkeshwar (151 Km)
Kunkeshwar in Devgad Taluka is an important pilgrim centre in Konkan region and is also famous for its fine and silver sand beach. On the beach is the Hemadpanthi Shiva Temple built in 1650.

Dapoli (157 Km)
Dapoli is an important town of the Konkan region famous for mango farms and its mango market. It is also famous for the Konkan Krishi Vidyapith and Sane Guruji Institute. The nearest railhead for Dapoli is Khed (27 Km) on the Konkan Railway.

Harnai (174 Km)
This seaside resort is famous for its palm fringed beaches – 
Harnai Beach, Murud Beach (4 Km), Siddhi Vinayak Ganapati Temple,  Durgadevi Temple, Suvarnadurg Fort.
From Harnai at 15 Km distance is Anjarle Village which is also a popular beach resort. Anjarle is just a 5 minutes boat ride from Harnai.
